I just wanted to let everyone know that I am not the reason Zooey and Ben are calling it quits. In fact, it makes me a bit sad as I thought they were a pretty awesome couple. You have to feel bad for them. I mean, Zooey deserves to be in a happy relationship, and Ben... it has to suck losing Zooey. As awesome as it was becoming her husband, it has to be ten time more intense becoming her ex. And not in a good way. I feel for you, Ben! And Zooey... call me!

So here is a quick pic of our lovely lady; a brief apology for lack of updates past, present and future; and a polite warning that things are not likely to change for the time being.

Oh yeah, and a timely (GASP!) reminder that Our Idiot Brother is due out in theaters August 26th and Your Highness will be on DVD and Blu-Ray on August 9th. Mark your calendars because I may not make it back around before the film hits the theaters. Zooey and Rasheeda Jones are rumored to get fairly hot and heavy, so needless to say i am looking forward to it.

Our Idiot Brother (previously known as My Idiot Brother) is now set to be released on August 26, 2011. As I am sure you recall, Zooey will be starring as the bi-sexual lover and partner of Rashida Jones. I am not sure why there was a name change, but since Phil Rudd's character has three sisters in the film, it does seem more fitting. You just have to wonder, did this have to go from conception to filming and then all the way to marketing before someone caught that...

The New Girl: Zooey's New Show on Fox!

It has been confirmed that Zooey will be joining her sister Emily (star of the popular series Bones) on Fox this fall in a new comedy series, The New Girl (not to be confused with The New Girl movie slated for next year, a thriller starring hottie Kate Maberly). This is the show mentioned in my last post that Zooey had signed on for the pilot. The show will focus on Zooey who portrays an elementary school teacher...

Um... Where was I? Oh yeah, slipped into my hot teacher fantasy for just a minute there...

Anyway, Zooey plays an elementary school teacher who hasn't had much luck when it comes to love. She leaves her boyfriend and moves in three ill-behaved men...

Uh... Zooey... three men... Um.. Oh! Sorry...

Three ill-behaved men (Jake M. Johnson, Max Greenfield and Damon Wayans Jr.) and outlandish hi-jinks ensue. Hannah Simone also co-stars. It was considered the comedy front runner this year and was the first picked up, so it seems like it has a real shot at being not just good but great! The show was created by Liz Meriwether, the writer-producer of the film, No Strings Attached.

Yes, I know I am being a bit lame about getting posts up on the blog, but life is very busy right now. But this news I just had to get out for you! Zooey has apparently signed on for a Fox comedy pilot written by No Strings Attached writer Liz Meriwether and is said to explore "the sexual politics of men and women".

Also, it is being reported that Zooey may take on the role of Betty Brant in the upcoming Spider-man reboot. Apparantly Miss Brant will have a larger role than in the original franchise and the director thinks Zooey will be perfect for the part.

Nothing really going on today but I had that burning desire just to spend a few minutes soaking in the radiance that is Zooey Deschanel and went Googling. Thought I would share a couple of pictures I found.

I particularly like the one below of Zooey with a guitar though I must admit it doesn't quite do for me what pictures of Zooey at a piano does. Sometimes I think I am just weird but then other times I just realize Zooey looks awesome playing piano.

I hope everyone likes the re-design I did on the blog layout. Just felt the need for a change and ran across the amazing photo of Zooey that I used in the page topper. She is always so gorgeous that it makes coming up with a new design so easy.

I also hope everyone is enjoying their summer and getting lots of fresh air and sunshine. Summer just seems like such a perfect season for enjoying all things Zooey. I think it is about time to re-watch Yes Man and maybe All the Real Girls or Live Free or Die. And I definitely need to take another look at Flakes soon.

Of course, needless to say I have had She & Him on the CD player all summer. Both volumes, of course.

Warner Home Video is releasing an Ultimate Collector's Edition of Elf on October 26, 2010! This loaded special edition comes in a collectible holiday tin filled with a Christmas stocking, gift tags and a miniature photo frame as well as a CD soundtrack sampler. Special features on this new edition will include deleted scenes, a trivia track, nine featurettes and at least four or five games! The price tag is a bit hefty with the DVD suggested retail around $40 and the Blu-Ray at almost $50, but come on... blond Zooey in super high-def? It's gotta be worth it!

Tired Pony is new band, some would say a proverbial supergroup, featuring Gary Lightbody (the amazing singer from Snow Patrol), Peter Buck (from legendary rockers R.E.M.) and Richard Colburn (of always underrated Belle and Sebastian). She & Him appear in the special music issue of Bust magazine currently on sale with a lovely article about the band. They touch on many things Zooey including Your Highness and her older films as well as more in depth discussion of her musical background. Oh yeah, and they talk about M. Ward some, too.

The interviewer spends the afternoon with the pair shopping for records and playing with puppies. Why can't I get this job? I tell youlife just isn't fair! But at least the were kind enough to share some gorgeous photos of Zooey, one of which I have included below.

Being an Idiot Can't Be All Bad

At least, not if you have a sister like Zooey Deschanel. Zooey is rumored to be attached to a new project entitled My Idiot Brother. Zooey apparently will play one of three sisters who take in their idiot brother (Paul Rudd) after he leaves his mother's home.

Each of the sisters are dealing with their own life issues with Zooey's character being a bisexual woman whose aloofness is causing trouble in her relationship with her lover (Rashida Jones). Zooey and Rashida as lesbian lovers? Oh yeah! I'm on board already!

But, of course, we must not get too excited over rumors as it now appears Zooey may not be starring as Ada Lovelace in the upcoming Enchantress of Numbers. Needless to say, the nerds and geeks of the world are broken-hearted.

I picked up the Blu Ray edition of Yes Man this weekend and watched the film again. Zooey sure looks great in high-def! Munchausen By Proxy's performance was great and they should really release a CD. The four songs in the movie are a great start but I am sure I am not alone in thinking a full album would be even better!

Zooey Is the New Face of Rimmel London

The wise folks at Rimmel London have chosen Zooey to be their "new face." She will be featured in upcoming ads for their cosmetics products including foundation, mascara and lipstick campaigns. Expect to see the ads beginning in August. I am not sure if they will be only print ads or if they will include other media such as television.

Now frankly, I have never heard of Rimmel London, but apparently those who know fashion are familiar with them. And I say if they choose to bless this world with more images of Zooey, then I am 100% behind them.

Other models they have worked with include Georgia May Jagger (Mick's daughter), Coco Rocha, Kate Moss, Lily Cole, Solange Knowles and Alejandra Ramos Munoz. All lovely ladies, but none quite as stellar as our dear Zooey!

Zooey Geeks Out for New Role!

Okay, I don't know if Zooey really "geeks out," but this certainly seems like a computer guru's dream come true...

Zooey is in talks to star as Ada Lovelace, a woman central to the development of scientific computing (you know... the stuff that makes blogging possible), in a movie called Enchantress Of Numbers. Zooey would possibly star with Billy Crudup (Waking The Dead, Public Enemies and, of course, Almost Famous) and Toby Jones (W., City of Ember) in the Bruce Beresford (Breaker Morant, Driving Miss Daisy) directed film.

Ada Lovelace (December 10, 1815 – November 27, 1852), or perhaps more formallyAugusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, was an English writer in the early to mid 19th century who was associated with Charles Babbage, a man generally recognized as the father of computing. She was one the few people of the time who understood Babbage's work and actually wrote a program for his "analytical engine," making her the world's first computer programmer.

To spice things up not only for the science geeks but also for the history nerds... er, I mean, "history buffs" and uh, "literary appreciators"... Lovelace also was the only legitimate child of the poet Lord Byron and Anne Isabella Milbanke. Her parents separated soon after she was born and she had no relationship with her father who died when she was nine. But still... she was Lord Byron's daughter!

Lovelace was taught mathematics to drive out those crazy writing urges she was suspected to have inherited from her father. Guess it didn't work as she just ended up writing about mathematics! There is even an Ada Lovelace Day which began in 2009 as an international day of blogging to celebrate women in science and technology. It is March 24th. Ada Lovelace was a fascinating woman who I have only very briefly touched on here and I would encourage everyone to take some time and learn more about her life.

Zooey's next movie is not scheduled for release until October 1, 2010. It is called Your Highness and is supposed to be a "horse and chainmail" comedy. It reunites Zooey with her All The Real Girls co-star Danny McBride who in turn is reunited with his Pineapple Express co-star James Franco.

Probably because of the Pineapple Express connection, some people seem to feel the film is destined to be a stoner flick, but I do not think that is necessarily so. Written by McBride and Ben Best, the movie could be about anything, including exactly what they claim it will be. Their previous collaboration, The Fist Foot Way, was many things but certainly not a stoner movie.

Also, while director David Gordon Green did helm Pineapple Express, he also gave us All The Real Girls. I think it will be interesting to see what sort of film Your Highness turns out to be. I expect it will be hilarious, interesting and full of Zooey. October sure is a long wait though!

Volume Two Now In Stores!

Since I am being about as slack a blogger as I can right now, you probably already know Zooey and M. Ward have released Volume Two, their second album as She & Him. I have only heard a couple of tracks but they are incredible.

I posted the video for "In the Sun" below. In addition to being a great song and cool video, Zooey looks amazing. But then I guess that is only to be expected since she is, after all, Zooey.

Speaking of Zooey looking amazing... Well, we all know of my weakness for Zooey in blue. But even if your prefered color for Zooey is some other hue, I think you must admit she looks heavenly in the photo to the right. Ahhhhh... I think I am off to dreamland...

Before I go though, just thought I would let you know Zooey is said to be working on a new series for HBO based on Pamela Des Barres' 1987 memoir I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie. I'll try to track down some details and post in the next few days.

She & Him have completed (or at least are well on their way to completing) their second album, appropriately titled Volume Two. It will feature thirteen tracks, eleven of which were written by Zooey! The other two are covers -- "Ridin' In My Car" originally by NRBQ and "Gonna Get Along Without You Now" originally by Skeeter Davis. As with Volume One, Two will be released by the wonderful folks at Merge Records. The release is scheduled for March 23rd, 2010.

I hope everyone is doing well. I have still been very tied up with many things including work and minor personal crises. I have been keeping an eye on Zooey's activities in case there was any big news, but she seems to be taking it a little easy lately, most likely enjoying her new state of wedded bliss.

Having blessed us recently with the Hollywood blockbuster Yes Man, the indie sensation (500) Days of Summer and the almost-under-the-radar Gigantic, it looks like our next dose of Zooey on film will likely not be until October of next year when Your Highness is released. At least with three great films so recently out, we should have plenty to keep us entertained until then.

On the music front, She & Him are rumored to be working on a second album, but I haven't been able to find any concrete information on this. If you didn't catch it, they do cover The Smiths' ""Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" on the (500) Days of Summer soundtrack.

I will try to get some photos posted in the coming weeks because I know how badly we all need them during this dry season. Alas, that crazy thing called life may get in my way, but I promise to try to do my best.

Congratulations to Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard who tied the proverbial knot Saturday night near Seattle. I wish I could share some wedding photos but as far as I have been able to find, there are none. Those pesky celebrities wanting to keep their private lives private!

Oh well, I am sure Zooey was ravishing and Ben probably got a little spruced up as well. Does this mean we know have to stop lusting and fantasizing and dreamin of the lovely Zooey? Of course not! Ben knew what he was getting into!

But seriously, I hope (and believe) that Ben and Zooey will become one of those magical celebrity couples that just seem to feed off each others creativity and always find happiness and joy!

Well, for me at least. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that (500) Days of Summer is playing at my local theater this week! I really expected to have to travel quite a ways if I hoped to see this on the big screen, but somehow it managed to make it in with District 9, G.I. Joe, G-Force and Bandslam. Will wonders never cease?

I haven't had a chance to see it yet, but hopefully I will tomorrow night or the next. Some of you have sent me messages saying what a great movie it is so I am looking forward to it. In the meantime, check your local theater listings! You never know...

Gigantic Instant Viewing & (Sort of) Review

If you have an Amazon account with access to their instant viewing service, Gigantic is now available. The DVD will be out in about a week and a half, but if you just cannot wait, this is your chance to see the movie before the DVD is released. And yes, I did sign up to Amazon this morning!

The movie is a great independent film with some laughs and lots of subtle meaning slipped in. Though it may not be Zooey's absolute best, it is very enjoyable and her performance will leave all her fanboys drooling. That does, of course, include me. Especially enjoyable is the pool scene. Ah, if only I could have been there... :-)

Her more serious fans -- which also includes me -- will find her performance definitely up to par for Zooey and full of quirky playfulness and hidden insight. She makes you think. She makes you care. She makes you find wonder in the mundane. She is, after all, the one and only Zooey Deschanel.

John Goodman and Ed Asner are also both fantastic in the movie. They play the fathers of the two main characters and could not have been better cast. If I had one complaint about their performances it would be that we did not get to see enough of either of them.

If you can, check the movie out on Amazon. If not, be sure to check out the DVD on August 11th. You will not be disappointed!

I know... I know... I'm not much of a blogger. When I started this blog (along with a few others) I can admit I did not have much of a life. These days, it seems one thing just keeps coming right after another. The last few months I have had very little time to spend online and as a result I have done a poor job of keeping up my blogging. I would promise to try to do better, but honestly the next couple of months will probably be pretty busy for me.

To catch you up on Zooey news, Gigantic was released to theaters on April 3rd, but it is only getting a limited release so only those of you in the "big cities" will likely get to see it before it hits DVD. Our lovely and multi-talented Zooey has done it again! She has designed her own line of sunglasses in collaboration with Oliver Peoples. They are a bit pricey at $415 per pair, but apparently Zooey is donating at least part of the proceeds to the Jenesse Center. As much as I hate to think of Zooey hiding those gorgeous blue eyes from us, at least she will be doing it in her own style!

Again I must apologize for the lack of posts here at The Zooey Blog. It has started off as a very busy year and seems to be getting busier by the day. To those of you who have e-mailed me and are probably wondering if I have dropped off the face the earth, I promise to answer soon.

Lately my time online has been very sporadic and I have very little leisure time. In fact, I did not get to watch one single Zooey movie all last week! Sometimes life can be so very cruel.

But then again, sometimes life can be grand. Tomorrow I will have some pictures posted for you all to enjoy. They are from the 2009 Grammy Awards and Zooey has never looked lovelier. I posted a couple of these photos a few days ago, but I have found better quality versions so please check back soon!

Turning Japanese

I am sorry I haven't been able to post a lot lately but I have been busy meeting Zooey fans... in Japan! Yep! I got to go to Japan last month for a week. It was about 99% work but I did get a little time for sight seeing and bar hopping and checking out the oh-so-beautiful Japanese girls.

While there I met two awesome Zooey fans -- Nonami and Eriko. They were so very cool and, though they spoke very little English, were able to quote line after line from Zooey's movies. They were huge fans of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe, Elf and The Happening.

I also almost got to meet Rika Ishikawa, one of the stars of Yo-Yo Girl Cop. She was apparently leaving Bistrot d'Artemis as I was arriving with my co-workers. I didn't even get to see her but everyone there was talking about her.

The Fascination of Robert Ford by the Hottie Dorothy Evans

I finally got the chance to see The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and though you have to wait through over two hours of the movie before you get to see Zooey, she is well worth the wait. She plays saloon girl Dorothy Evans and basically seems to be in the movie to provide someone for Robert Ford to speak openly to and reveal his motives.

A friend of mine who is a bit of an expert on Jesse James assures me there is no historical basis for the character Dorothy Evans and no one really knows Ford's motives (though greed and self preservation seem to top the list of guesses). I told him I do not care whether or not Zooey's character is historically accurate and I would bet that lucky Casey Affleck who portrayed Robert Ford did not mind either.

Yes Man Still Going Strong

Yes Man was in the Top Ten at the Box Office again this week at #8. That makes four weeks on the list for Zooey's newest comedy which so far has grossed over $86 million domestically here in the United States. Overall the movie has been a great success. I have only managed to see it twice and probably will not get to see it again until it hits DVD, but it is definitely going to have a place as one of my favorite Zooey comedies.

Happy New year everyone! Zooey seems to be off to a great start with her new fiancé and Yes Man still in the top five movies. Zooey has said in a few places that she is going to take it a little easy on the acting for awhile, quite likely to spend some time with that lucky Ben Gibbard fellow, but hopefully we will also see a Volume Two from She & Him before long. And I am sure it will not be too long before Zooey is attached to some new movie projects as well.

While many of us are a bit heartbroken to know that it now seems inevitable that Zooey will not meet us and discover that we are the one, we also feel tremendous joy that Zooey has found happiness. With the announcement of her engagement to Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard (shown above performing with Zooey at a campaign event for Barack Obama), Zooey has brought a very full year to a close. Two major films, an incredible album with She & Him, and an engagement... I wonder what 2009 will bring?

A Big Yes to Yes Man!

As expected, Yes Man is hilarious and well worth seeing. It has been awhile since Jim Carrey made a truly funny movie, but this definitely ranks up high with his best. Zooey, of course, is phenomenal as always and radiant and adorable.

Zooey's band in the movie, Munchausen By Proxy, is interesting as well as funny. I posted a video the other day of them performing a song called "Sweet Ballad" and though it is different from Zooey's stuff with M. Ward, it is quite good. The band features Zooey and members of San Francisco band Von Iva.

Last Night on The Tonight Show

Sorry! I would have let you know but I didn't know until last night. Luckily I was aware Adam Sandler was going to be on and I am a fan of his work, so I was already watching. I would have thrown up a quick blog at the beginning of the show at least but I was nowhere near a computer at the time.

Zooey was adorable as expected. She was gorgeous in a beautiful blue dress. I do love Zooey in blue... She showed the "gun range" clip that you may have seen briefly in commercials for the film. It looks like the movie is going to be great. I will try to get a mini-review up after I see it this weekend.

Zooey Weather

The weather is cooling down and it is a great time of year for relaxing with one of Zooey's movies. I have Manic planned for the Thanksgiving holiday and may watch Almost Famous again as well. The Happening will probably get squeezed in also. I have been so busy lately that a few of you have started to wonder about my well-being.

Thank you for your concern but everything is actually going very well. It is looking like I may get to make a short trip to Japan after the first of the year which will just be awesome if everything works out. It will be unfortunately short and 95% business, but some of you know how long I have dreamed of visiting that wonderful country.

Here are a couple of photos of our lovely star, the beautiful Zooey Deschanel. These, I am sure, will warm you as the temperature outside continues to dip lower. Posting will probably be slow throughout December and possibly into January if I get to make the trip, but I will try to keep you from going into Zooey withdrawals.

Now I consider the point at which I discovered Zooey to be when she portrayed Trillian in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. But apparently even before I realized my appreciation for her, my subconscious was already swooning over her.

Well, this was a long week despite the fact that I had an extra day off. It was not a day of vacation. It was a day of trying to squeeze three days worth of errands into one day so that I only had to waste one day of vacation on doing all the things that can only be done when I am normally at work. Why is everything from the Post Office to the doctor's office only open during the same hours that 75% of the people work?

So anyway, my day off really counted as three extra weekdays by my calculations making this a very long week. Hopefully I have a relaxing weekend to look forward to if I can only make it to 5 o'clock today. I moved Manic up to the top of my Netflix queue and with luck it will make it here by Saturday. I hope you have a pleasant weekend as well. If things work out the way I hope, I may even get to make a couple of posts tomorrow. But no promises...

Time Is On Nobody's Side

Time is relative. I have decided this because when I look forward to the holidays, they seem to be coming on very fast. I have nowhere near enough time to do the various things I want, need and have promised to do. Yet when I look at it from the perspective of Yes Man being released, it is still a whole loooooong month away!

Now this theory of perspective doesn't seem to work with money. No matter how I look at my finances, I never seem to be able to make my funds esxceed my debts. It doesn't seem fair. Oh well, at least it is still free to look at Zooey...

As always, her blue eyes were pools of liquid sky, indubitably drawing in all around her, captivating all and warming them in the soft embrace of her perfection.

Yeah, I'm a little more hopeless than usual today, but sometimes it is relaxing to just get lost in all her Zooey-ness. Some days Zooey is my favorite actress. Yes, some days she is my infatuation. And then there are days like today when Jean Racine said it best...

I finally got to see the short film House Hunting that I had mentioned previously here at The Zooey Blog. It was an unusual little film... Yeah, that's a good way to put it. It was funny and cute and interesting, but thing that stands out to me is what a lucky bastard Paul Rudd is (see the picture at the very bottom).
